Section 4.6 : Transformations

Use transformations to sketch the graph of the following functions.

  1. \(f\left( x \right) = \left| x \right| - 4\)
  2. \(f\left( x \right) = \sqrt x - 3\)
  3. \(f\left( x \right) = {x^2} + 7\)
  4. \(f\left( x \right) = \sqrt {x + 2} \)
  5. \(f\left( x \right) = {\left( {x + 3} \right)^2}\)
  6. \(f\left( x \right) = \left| {x - 1} \right|\)
  7. \(f\left( x \right) = - \left| x \right|\)
  8. \(f\left( x \right) = - \sqrt x \)
  9. \(f\left( x \right) = {\left( { - x} \right)^3}\)
  10. \(f\left( x \right) = \left| { - x} \right|\)
  11. \(f\left( x \right) = \sqrt {x - 2} - 3\)
  12. \(f\left( x \right) = {\left( {x + 1} \right)^2} - 4\)
  13. \(f\left( x \right) = \left| {x + 2} \right| + 4\)
  14. \(f\left( x \right) = {\left( {x - 5} \right)^3} + 2\)
